A full schedule of classes is offered from September through June each year. Classes are also available during the summer months on a more limited basis.
HEALTH LITERACY CLASS KICKS-OFF THIS SUMMER!
The Literacy Center is proud to present our new Health Literacy class. Featuring a curriculum designed solely for The Literacy Center's students, the course will run for six weeks in the summer and will continue to be offered throughout the program year.
Just some of the topics students will learn include:
- How to talk to doctors and ask the right questions
- Finding the right doctor for you and your family
- Practice reading medication labels and filling out medical forms
- Making good decisions for your health and your children's
- The different specialties of doctors
- Health vocabulary
The Health Literacy mini-class is offered to enrolled students in addition to their regular classes. Solid attendance is required.
MINI-CLASSES
Mini-classes are meant to be taken by enrolled students to supplement their traditional studies. Mini-classes are usually offered over six-week periods at various times throughout the program year. They offer our students specific instruction on one particular topic. Mini-classes improve skills and knowledge to help students reach their goals.
