Adult Basic Education
The Literacy Center offers free instruction for adults who want to improve their reading, writing or math skills. Classes and small group sessions are available. Students can also study one-on-one with a trained Literacy Tutor. Instruction is geared to the needs and interests of the student. Students are expected to participate between three to six hours a week.
Some adult basic education students hope to earn the GED® in the future. They can move on to a GED® class when they are ready.
Students are tested from time to time to measure their progress and to make sure that instruction meets their needs.
Interested students must call us at 610.435.0680 to register. Please see our class schedule for class times and locations.
General Educational
Development (GED®)
A GED® can pave the way for job opportunities. It can also lead to acceptance into job training or college courses. The Literacy Center offers free classes that help people master the subjects on the GED® test - writing, reading, math, social studies and science.
Both day and evening classes are available. Some classes meet for five hours a week. Others meet for ten or even twenty hours for students who would like to move forward quickly.
Before students are enrolled in the class, they are tested to make sure the instruction is geared to their needs. Students are also tested from time to time to check on their progress.
