The Adult Literacy Center of the Lehigh Valley is fortunate to have Migdalia Marcial as one of our dedicated volunteers. She arrived from Puerto Rico in 2005 and enrolled in our English as a Second Language Class.   After she graduated from the ESL program, Migdalia began working as a volunteer and now teaches a small group of ESL students.   Migdalia also helps with student registration sessions, assists with testing and provides support in the classroom.

Migdalia is dedicated and devoted to her students, even visiting them when they are too sick to come to class.  She is here regardless of bad weather or other obstacles in her life.  As Migdalia says,

"I am a volunteer because I like to help other people from other countries.  I want them to improve and to enjoy the freedom and the great opportunities that this country offers to all of us."

Migdalia's work of the past two years has not gone unnoticed.  On Wednesday, April 2nd, Migdalia was honored by the Volunteer Center of the Lehigh Valley and The Morning Call as one of the "Volunteers of the Lehigh Valley" at the 15th Annual Breakfast for Champions.

Congratulations, and thank you, Migdalia, for all you do!
