- How much do classes
cost?
All classes and instruction are FREE.
- Who can enroll as a
student?
Anyone over the age of
16 and out of school can
enroll.
- Where and when are
classes held?
Classes are held in our
office and at other
local sites
such as public schools
and churches. Classes
are available both
day and
evening. See our
class schedule for more
information.
- How many people are
in each class?
On average, there are 15 - 20
students in each class.
- Do I have to take
tests?
Every student is tested when they start class and again from time to time. These tests are not pass or fail. You do not have to study for the tests. The tests are to measure your progress as you study.
- How many hours per
week do I have to attend class?
Most students attend class at least five hours a week. We encourage students to attend more frequently, depending on their schedule. The more students attend, the more they learn! All students should plan to attend for at least 50 hours during their enrollment. Many choose to attend for more than 50 hours during their enrollment. Regular attendance at class is important and is required.
- Do I have to buy
textbooks or class
materials?
You do not need to purchase textbooks or other materials. Some students decide to purchase a copy of the textbook for their own use, but it is not required.
- How do I become a
student?
First, you must call The Literacy Center at 610.435.0680. You may also stop in for information on Monday - Friday between 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. We will schedule an appointment. At the appointment, you will complete registration forms and learn more about our classes. You must have an appointment to register for our classes.
